Many of you now know what SEO is and What is PPC. These are no strange terminologies. But many of you do have confusion over one point. You seem to ask, “Which one is better among these two, SEO or PPC?”

The question seems to be simple, but the answer is not so simple. The answer to this question depends on multiple factors, such as how are you currently functioning, what are your objectives and how is the marketplace you are doing your business in. 

SEO Versus PPC: 

These two are different but work better when they are integrated and aligned strategically. Paid ads appear at the top of the page above the organic listing organised by SEO. Traffic from organic via SEO is FREE but each click costs money in PPC. So, these two need to be aligned strategically to work together to get best of results. 

SEO: What it is? 

Search Engine Optimization is a process that optimizes your webpage to rank higher in a result of search engine’s organic search. 

  • Keyword research: Keywords are the words and phrases the customers use while searching for anything on search engines. 
  • On Page SEO: It creates contents searchers want to see. It involves the query as to why the searchers are making the search. This is known as search intent. 
  • Off page SEO: These are the activities you do to Google to promote your web pages to a higher rank. It involves building high quality backlinks. 
  • Technical SEO: It ensures that search engines can find, crawl, and index your content. It is important to register that you exist. 

Advantages of SEO: 

  • You can get consistent search traffic to your website as long as you rank high on Google for your target keywords. 
  • SEO is cheaper in long term of use. 

Disadvantages of SEO: 

  • SEO is a time-consuming process. It delivers to a degree of only 22%. 
  • SEO is content sensitive. It needs unique content that is authoritative in nature. 
  • Some keywords may compete with each other. It can confuse the search engine search results and give you confused results. 

What is PPC? 

PPC is a type of online advertising. The advertisers have to pay an amount of money each time anyone clicks on the advertisements. This includes search ads and social media ads both. 

  • Keyword Research: You need to choose keywords to target for PPC advertising, just as you do for SEO. You have to do keyword research. 
  • Bid Setting: You decide the amount you are going to pay to Google for each ad click you make. Google will not show your ad if your competitor out bids you. 
  • Ad Creation: Ad creation decides your ad content and the destination it sends your customers. 
  • Targeting Audience: Here you decide that who will see your ad. You can decide your targeted audience based on their interests and requirements. 

Advantages of PPC: 

  • PPC is fast. It is almost instant. You can start your campaign immediately over any platform you like. 
  • PPC allows you decide your targeted audience. 
  • PPC allows you to do quick experiments with its fast feedbacks. You can make changes in your campaigns accordingly. 

Disadvantages of PPC: 

  • PPC is very expensive. 
  • PPC is not as effective as organic search. 
  • PPC needs you to invest first to earn money later. 

So, SEO and PPC is more or less than same in their Pros and Cons. Neither of them are better nor worse than each other. Both are legitimate and generate traffic in their own ways. The pros and cons are situational.
